A thief made off with a purse containing more than $3,000 in cash over the Fourth of July holiday from the Snoqualmie Market.
Snoqualmie Police suspect a North Bend woman of taking the purse, which belonged to the store’s owner, a Snoqualmie woman, and was visible from where it had been placed behind the counter in the deli area. The theft happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, and was reported three hours later when the owner noticed her purse was missing.
The theft appears to be a crime of opportunity, said Becky Munson, police department spokeswoman.
The suspect in the crime has not been charged as of press time, but officers identified her through surveillance footage from a security camera in the store. She has had prior contact with Snoqualmie police.
Police planned to file a first-degree theft charge in King County Superior Court, Munson said.
