Mount Si falls to Newport
The Mount Si cross country team took on Newport last week in a losing effort, but one that featured several outstanding individual performances. For the girls’ team, Devan Paulus stepped it up and competed with the front pack the entire race for her team. Freshman Katie Hogan had her best race yet finishing right behind Paulus and not letting any Newport runners in between the two teammates.
For the boys’ team, a pack led by Colin Parsons took the sixth through ninth spots. Brandi Cason also came through in one of his best races of the season.
‘Cats thump Islanders
The Mount Si JV volleyball team defeated Mercer Island last week in two games, 25-10 and 25-23. Mount Si was led by Samantha Riley with eight kills, one block and three digs. Teammate Noel Walter had six kills, 10 digs and three aces.
Mount Si beats Bellevue
Raising its record to 5-2, the Mount Si JV volleyball team defeated Bellevue in three games last week, 25-9, 22-25 and 15-7.
Leading the way for the ‘Cats were Kylee Wickstrom with four service aces, Alicia Elmore with seven kills and three aces and rookie Rachel Bru with 2 1/2 blocks.
JV demolishes Totems
Avenging the Friday night loss of the varsity team to Sammamish, the JV football team defeated the Totems 28-0. The Wildcats’ defense was strong against the Wing-T offense and the offensive unit of the ‘Cats racked up four touchdowns.
JV has several winners
The Mount Si JV tennis team had a great match last week against Sammamish. Singles winners were Joe Taklo, 8-4, and Justin Hartley winning his tie-breaker 7-5. The teams of Kevin Sandin/Race Dillon, Garret Morck/Tom Perry and Mike Posey/Josh Williams all won of their doubles matches.
Mount Si falls to Bellevue
The Mount Si golf team lost a tough match to Bellevue last week 210-194 at Overlake Golf Course. Jon Larson led the way for Mount Si shooting a 40 with teammate Blaine Sutton recording a 41. Tanner Bostby, Kyle Clearman and Kevin Englund all came in with a 43.
