ALL CITY – A $600,000 revamp of the city’s downtown area streets, sidewalks and parking should be completed by the end of the month.
Jay La Vassar, a construction project engineer who is heading up the Fall City effort for the Washington State Department of Transportation, said crews are about halfway through the project that began last month.
Crews from Wilder Construction Inc., the company heading up the work, are installing new sidewalks, improving the parking and repaving and restriping the roadway including the bridge overlooking the Snoqualmie River in the city’s business district.
La Vassar said construction crews are working to ensure that both lanes of traffic are open during the project and businesses aren’t severely impacted by the work. He added that in the upcoming weeks the road could be taken down to one lane for brief periods during non-peak hours, which are 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Most paving will take place at night, according to La Vassar, and should last a few days weather permitting.
