Wildcats announce awards
The Mount Si football team recently announced their season awards. The Wildcat Strength and Conditioning awards went to Jake Pearce, Charles Fualaau, Dexter Moetului, Cary Purchase and Eric Forslin. Most Improved awards went to James McKiernan, Sean Bothell and Ben Frieler. The Offensive Player of the year award went to Kyle Meuli. The “Mr. Defense” award went to Forslin. MVP for the year was Adam Rothgeb. Zach Bowen won the Offensive Lineman of the year award and Eric McCammon won the Defensive Lineman of the year. Scout team player of the year was Fualaau. Finally, the David Szczepanik coaches award went to Beau Stanford and Levi Nelson.
Local members of rowing team excel
The Sammamish Rowing Association in Redmond had a great showing at the Head of the Lake Regatta held recently. Jan Gifford of Snoqualmie was on the team that took second place with a time of 18 minutes, 46.33 seconds. In the Masters category, Marc McGinnis of Carnation helped his team to first place with a time of 17 minutes, 28.8 seconds.
Turner-Sales recognized
Postseason honors continue to roll in for the Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) volleyball team. Stephanie Turner-Sales, formerly of Mount Si, was named to the 2004 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-West Region Teams. Turner-Sales was a first-team selection. In addition, PLU Head Coach Kevin Aoki was named the 2004 Tachikara/AVCA West Region Coach of the Year.
Turner-Sales, (a junior) led the Lutes in kills with 397 kills per game (3.97) and service aces (51). She also had 90 digs and 32 total blocks in 85 games. Turner is now eligible for AVCA All-American honors.
