ntroductory classes offered
The Sammamish Rowing Association in Redmond will be offering introductory rowing classes for adults and youths during summer and fall of 2004 starting in June. Rowers get a low-impact, full-body workout while surrounded by the beauty of Lake Sammamish. Classes will take place at the Sammamish Rowing Association boathouse in Marymoor Park West.
Instructors introduce basic rowing skills and theory, boat handling, land exercises and team rowing. Most of class time will be spent on the water in stable, eight-person shells. No experience is required but a swimming float test must be taken and a consent/release form signed before starting class.
Programs are divided into age groups: youths 13-18, young adults 18-26, adults 27-65 and seniors 65 and above. The classes are four weeks long and meet twice a week. Cost is $75 per class.
