Local runners compete
Four Snoqualmie Valley youth runners who are members of
the Issaquah Gliders cross-country team participated in the South Hill
Striders Invitational Meet Sept. 30 in Graham.
The 7-8 boys team and the 9-10 boys team each received
second-place ribbons. Individual honors were awarded to the top eight
finishers. Drake daPonte received the first-place trophy in the 9-10 division with a
time of 9:34 for 1 1/2 miles.
Running in their first-ever cross-country meets were Ben Luna in
the 7-8 boys division; Katie Luna in the 9-10 girls; and Shawn Paskey in
the 9-10 boys.
Valley Baseball looking for players
Valley Baseball Association is looking for players for the 2001
season. Interested league-age 14-year-olds should call Steve Brouillette

Travel basketball tryouts coming
Girls in grades six through eight and boys in grades five through
eight _ all living in the Snoqualmie Valley School District — are invited to
try out for a traveling basketball team. There is a fee of $10
(non-refundable) for the tryouts. For more

Tryout schedules are as follows:
Sixth-grade girls, Sunday, Oct. 8, 3-4 p.m. at Mount Si High School,
and Wednesday, Oct 11, 6-7 p.m. at North Bend Elementary.
Seventh-grade girls, Sunday, Oct. 8, 4-5 p.m. at MSHS, and
Wednesday, Oct. 11, 7-8 p.m. at NBE.
Eighth-grade girls, Sunday, Oct. 8, 5-6 p.m. at MSHS, and
Wednesday, Oct. 11, 8-9 p.m. at NBE.
Fifth-grade boys, Sunday, Oct. 8, 2-3 p.m., at MSHS, and Tuesday,
Oct. 10, 5-6 p.m. at NBE.
Sixth-grade boys, Sunday, Oct. 8, 3-4 p.m. at MSHS, and Tuesday,
Oct 10, 6-7 p.m. at NBE.
Seventh-grade boys, Sunday, Oct. 8, 4-5 p.m. at MSHS, and
Tuesday, Oct. 10, 7-8 p.m. at NBE.
Eighth-grade boys, Sunday, Oct. 8, 5-6 p.m. at MSHS, and Tuesday,
Oct. 10, 8-9 p.m. at NBE.
Players should attend both tryouts for their specific grade level.
Punt, Pass and Kick results announced
The final punt, pass and kick results for the competition held last
week at Mount Si High School are as follows:
For girls ages 8 and 9, Abby Grimstad, from Snoqualmie, took
first with a total distance of 68 feet 7 inches. For girls ages 10 and 11,
Trisha Hodges, of North Bend, took first with a total distance of 97 feet 3 inches.
For boys, ages 8 and 9, Garrett Rohan, of North Bend, took first
with a total distance of 159 feet. For boys, ages 10 and 11, Frank
McLaughlin, of Snoqualmie, took first with a distance of 187 feet 7 inches.
These four winners will move to the sectional competition, to be
held Oct. 8, in Kent.
Cedarcrest announces schedule changes
Cedarcrest High School announced several changes to its
fall sports schedule. The reason for the changes are poor and unsafe
playing conditions.
Oct. 4 _ “C” football at Bellevue High School, start time is 6:30
p.m. Oct. 10 _ JV soccer at Interlake, cancelled. Oct. 10 _ Varsity girl’s
soccer vs. Interlake at Tolt, 6 p.m. start time. Oct. 11_ Girl’s soccer “C” team,
cancelled. Oct. 16 _ JV football vs. Interlake, cancelled. Oct. 18 _
“C” football at Interlake, 6 p.m. start
time. Oct. 19 _ “C” girl’s soccer vs.
Eastlake will be at Cedarcrest High School practice field at 4 p.m. Oct. 23 _
JV football at Liberty, 6 p.m. start time. Oct. 25 _ “C” football at Liberty,
6 p.m. start time.
