Snoqualmie Valley Record turns 90

It was 90 years ago that the first issue of what is now known as the Snoqualmie Valley Record hit the streets. A lot has changed since then in both the community and the way the paper is produced and distributed. What hasn’t changed is our mission to keep the Valley readers informed of what is happening around them.

Nobody is quite sure when our first paper was published. From what we’ve deduced, our first operation was in the Tanner district east of North Bend and the first paper, the North Bend Post, was published Oct. 16, 1913 by B.N. Kennedy. Over the years the weekly paper has gone by a myriad of names including the North Bend Post, Snoqualmie Post, Valley Record, Snoqualmie Valley Record, and North Bend Valley Record. The current version of the paper has been called the Snoqualmie Valley Record since 1924. As you’ll notice if you look at the What’s Inside box on the front page the volume number denotes that this, in fact, is our first paper of our 90th year.
