SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – A year has passed since Evergreen Forest Trust and Weyerhaeuser Co. announced the purchase-and-sale agreement of the Snoqualmie Tree Farm, but a delay in acquiring funds finds the deal remaining in limbo.
Although Weyerhaeuser Co. officials say they are waiting for Evergreen Forest Trust to procure the money needed to finalize the purchase of 99,000 acres of forest land, they admit the company is looking at other options in case the deal falls through.
“To their credit, Weyerhaeuser has been very understanding,” said Gene Duvernoy, board member for Evergreen Forest Trust and president of the Cascade Land Conservancy, the group that helped negotiate the deal.
