NORTH BEND – In the upcoming weeks residents are expected to learn who will be managing the Si View Community Center and pool and the amount of the levy rate voters approved earlier this year.

Si View Park District Commissioner and chairman Kevin Haggerty said a contract agreement for management services is expected to be reached with the Redmond-based nonprofit Friends of Youth this week. The agreement would find Friends of Youth operating the programs offered at the historic facility while subcontracting with Northwest Center to operate the swimming pool.

Friends of Youth is expected to begin managing the center beginning Jan. 1, Haggerty said.

Last year, King County officials announced they intended to turn over 10 swimming pools in the county’s control, including Si View, to the cities in which they were located. At the time North Bend officials said they did not have the funds to save the facility, and Si View was expected to be mothballed.
