Sham soldier may be a sex offender

He had a uniform and a sad story when he came to North Bend late last month. While in town, he convinced one woman to give him $500 to help him through a hard time. But U.S. Army officials said his story didn’t match the facts and “Lt. Don Daily” likely wasn’t a soldier.

Now, a man with a similar uniform and sad story is in the Kitsap County Jail on unrelated charges.

Donald Cole Burchett, 32, was arrested Friday, May 4, for escape from community custody and failure to register as a sex offender. He is a Level 3 sex offender, the most dangerous and likely to reoffend. He was supposed to be living in Spokane and to inform police of his whereabouts. He now is in jail without bail.
