Sales helps Lutes against CWU

Central Washington University tallied 17 hits in the first game and 13 in the second game to defeat Pacific Lutheran in both ends of a boys basebal ldoubleheader last week, 11-3 and 12-2. The second game was a scheduled seven-inning contest.
The Lutes plated single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Ryan Thorne hit a home run in the eighth inning, and Eric Stanczyk walked and came across on former Mount Si baseball standout Brandon Sales’ single in the ninth. Sales had three hits, while Thorne and Justin Whitehall had two hits for the Lutes. In the second game the Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, added one run in the second, scored five times in the fifth and twice in the sixth.
PLU scored one run in the third inning and one in the seventh. Roger Guzman reached on a bunt single in the third and later scored on a wild pitch. Kris Hansen scored the other run, reaching on an error and coming across on Thorne’s sacrifice fly. Thorne had three hits in the game for the Lutes.
