Wildcats outpaced by Newport,
Mercer Island
Girls – Newport 26, Mercer Island 43, Mount Si 63
The Mount Si cross country team traveled to the home of the
Islanders on Thursday, Sept. 30, for a KingCo 3A event with Newport and
Mercer Island. The Knights prevailed in the women’s race, with Newport’s
Jodee Adams-Moore crossing the line first at 19:18. No Wildcat runners
finished in the top ten.
Boys – Newport 26, Mercer Island 43, Mount Si 63
In the men’s race, Newport’s Adam Lawless paced his team with
a winning time of 17:10. Mount Si’s Mike Macrae finished ninth with
a time of 18:00.
The next meet for the runnin’ Wildcats is Thursday, Oct. 7,
when Mount Si hosts Liberty and Sammamish High Schools.
Red Wolves
fall to Issaquah, Bellevue
Girls – Issaquah 26, Bellevue 39, Cedarcrest 69
Cedarcrest’s Kelly Ramirez made a strong showing on the
3.0-mile course at Issaquah High School last Thursday, placing fourth with a
time of 21:31. The race winner was Issaquah’s Whitney Stern, with
a 20:16.
Boys – Issaquah 27, Bellevue 45, Cedarcrest 53
The Wolves’ James Conrick had another exemplary run, placing
second to Bellevue’s Ricky Brackett with a time of 16:16. Teammates
Danny Abell (17:09) and Eric Pedeferri (17:13) placed eighth and tenth
respectively.
In Saturday’s Sunfair Invitational Race at Franklin Park in
Yakima, Conrick carried the flag for Cedarcrest, placing 19th with a
time of 16:23. The men’s event – which saw participation by schools from
Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana – was won by Seattle’s University
High School. Max Schmidt of University won the three-mile race with a time
of 15:10.
The next meet for Cedarcrest is Thursday, Oct. 7, when the
Red Wolves’ thin clads travel to Saints’ country for a run with Interlake
and Skyline.
