Wildcats take Tahoma, toast Totems, stagger Saints
The Mount Si golf team continues to roll up the links, downing local
and more distant competition with startling regularity.
In non-league action on Monday, Sept. 19, the Wildcats traveled to
Lake Wilderness to take on Tahoma, and once again, the `Cats returned
victorious with a 181-190 win. Sean Fallows and Eric Larson shared
medalist honors with a one-over par score of 35. Aaron Svarthumle followed
with a 36, Sean Armstrong with a 37, Derek Lee with a 38, and David LaBelle
with a 41.
The JV golfers made a strong showing, with three `Cats shooting
in the 30s. J. Michael Johnson was the low man with a 36, while
Adam Vandebrake and Brett Fallows each shot 39.
Last Wednesday, the squad pulled together a total team performance
to shoot a one-under par team score. The `Cats toasted the Totems by 30
points, 179-209, on Sammamish’s home course of Bellevue Municipal.
Leading the Wildcats to victory was Lee, shooting a 4-under par
score of 32 while winning his first varsity medalist honor. Armstrong turned
in a 3-under score of 33, Sean Fallows an even-par 36, and Larson
and LaBelle finished the field with 39 each.
Brett Fallows provided the JV highlights with a 2-over par score
of 38.
Mount Si hosted Interlake last Thursday for a showdown of the
only two undefeated teams in KingCo 3A at the Mount Si Golf Course.
Despite the weather, the mighty `Cats claimed victory by a score of 183-188.
Once again, sophomore Armstrong led the charge as a
medalist, with a 2-under score of 34. He was followed by Larson with a 1-under
35; Lee with a 37; Sean Fallows, 38; and LaBelle, 39.
The JV squad provided additional proof of the team’s depth,
thoroughly whomping the Saints by 30 points. Vandebrake finished play with a
37; Johnson, 38; Brett Fallows, 40; and Matt Poth, also with 40.
On Monday, Sept. 27, the Carnation Golf Course was the scene of
the “Battle of the Valley.” When the day was over, the Wildcat golfers had
upended their Cedarcrest rivals by a score of 202-214. Sean Fallows led
the `Cats with an even-par 37. Armstrong shot a 38, and both Larson
and LaBelle finished with scores of 40 each.
The `Cats take to the links again for a non-league home match
with White River, before battling Bellevue on Thursday at the Overlake
course. On Monday, Oct. 4. They’ll host the Skyline Golf team for their last
regular season match.

prevailed in the match by an overall score of 200-225.
The team had a soggy time of it in last Thursday’s meet with Bellevue,
on the par-35 Overlake Golf and Country Club. Regrettably, they once
again came out on the short end, falling to the Wolverines 202-226.
Individual scores for the meet were Medley, 41; Sean Beveridge, 42; Kamada, 43;
Beveridge, 48; Bill Filer, 52; and Spayde, 58.
