North Bend nixes nuisances

If the North Bend City Council has its way, abandoned buildings and vehicles will be a thing of the past in North Bend. The City Council unanimously agreed Tuesday, May 15, to toughen the city’s public nuisance laws.

“This is something the city has needed for a long time,” said Councilmember David Cook.

The new law spells out unlawful nuisance violations including: animal manure, dangerous premises, storage of building materials not used in a permitted project, dangerous or unlawful vacant structures, junk vehicles, obstruction of a public right of way, potential vermin habitat or fire hazard, abandoned refrigeration equipment, major appliances kept for sale unles effective measures to prevent children entering are taken, rodent and insect infestations, trash-covered premises, poison ivy or other noxious weeds as defined by the state and King County and vibration emanating beyond property boundaries.
