North Bend Elementary a favorite target of vandals

NORTH BEND – A tour around the grounds of North Bend Elementary School can give Snoqualmie Valley School District Plant Operations Supervisor Carl Larson a bit of a headache.
The school has been a favorite target of vandals looking to deface school property and a walk around the building proves it. There are dents in the awning over the walkways, windows without screens and a lot of bricks that seem off color because they have been painted over to hide graffiti.
“Pretty soon we’ll have all the bricks painted over [to hide graffiti],” Larson said. “At least then it will be one color.”
Most recently vandals tore the screens off 18 windows on the school and its portables. School officials believe some individual or group vandalized the school in the late hours of April 5 or the early morning hours of April 6. A school janitor discovered the damage in the morning on April 7. Business Services Director Ron Ellis estimated the damage to be about $500.
“That’s money that wasn’t in the budget,” Ellis said.
