Mount Si drops meet to Bellevue

The Wildcat men’s track and field team had many stunning
performances last week against a powerful Bellevue team. Despite the strong showing,
it wasn’t enough to pull out the team win, as Mount Si lost, 80-64.
Erik Lanigan had a great first outing, triple jumping to a fourth best
finish in Mount Si history with a total of 41′ 5 ¼”. Nick Verbon dominated
the hurdles winning the 110 high hurdles in a time of 16.15 and the 300
hurdles in 44.33 seconds.
MJ Crandall turned in a blazing performance in the 800 meters with
a time of 2:06.8, tying his personal best. Newcomer Ben Eaton attacked
the long jump, soaring to 19′ 8 ¼ inches for first place. His mark was
nearly two feet more than any of his competitors’.
Austin Bachelder broke his personal record in the shot put,
winning the event with a throw of 42′ 9″.
Jesse Bauman took top honors in the javelin, throwing 146′ 1″, while
teammates Jon Linger and Philip Mangano took second and third in the pole
vault respectively.
Mount Si hosts Newport Thursday.
