McCullough named to lead administrators association

SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – From his office in the old middle-school building on Silva Avenue in Snoqualmie that was converted into the administrative building for the Snoqualmie Valley School District, Superintendent Dr. Richard McCullough can get a sense of how far the district has come.

Although the school building was converted into administrative offices in the early ’70s, long before McCullough started, he has overseen the renovation of every school building in the district, as well as an overhaul of its academics.

“I was able to tap into the energy of the teachers to raise the bar and up the ante for themselves and for the students,” McCullough said. “I have been places where that was a struggle … Coming here to a community that was willing to listen to the message that we could do better was great.”

McCullough is being recognized for his leadership. He was recently elected president of the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), a post he had been nominated to in the past several years, but declined due to time constraints.
