Life in the fast lane

SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – Most children may not recognize Valley youngsters Madison Yakaboski of Duvall and Drake da Ponte of North Bend because they have only seen the back of them.

That is the view most anyone would have of the two, who can race around a track and not feel the need to stop and catch their breath.

Yakaboski and da Ponte have caught the eye of local and national coaches who have said the pair are the future of track in the Valley, the region, the state and, with a lot of hard work, the nation.

Born to athletic parents, 11-year-old Yakaboski’s first foray into running was at the Snoqualmie Fun Run two years ago at the urging of her father.
