Leaving a legacy of Valley service

NORTH BEND – Although three years may not seem like a long time, it was plenty of time for Margie Anderson to leave an impact on the Valley.
In that time Anderson’s name has become synonymous with a friendly smile and selfless service exhibited by her volunteer work at the Mount Si Helping Hands Food Bank in North Bend and as a parishioner of her church, Our Lady of Sorrows in Snoqualmie.
Her name, and presence, will also be missed. Anderson and her family will be moving back to their home state of Pennsylvania this summer.
“She works well with people in a quiet way, which is good here,” said Ken McCarty, coordinator of the food bank. “She will be hard to replace.”
Anderson and her family moved to the Valley in 2000 from their hometown outside of Philadelphia for a job her husband accepted in the area. Almost immediately she looked for a way to get involved in her new community and found out about the Mount Si Helping Hands Food Bank operated out of the North Bend Community Church.
