Jean Furstnow held the metal railings of a pair of platform parallel bars – two long, metal bars about 3 feet off the ground, parallel to each other and the floor – taking small steps forward as Opal Wiltshire, her physical therapist, followed closely behind. Reaching the end of the platform, she began walking backward, working on balance.
Furstnow, of Fall City, was one of three patients using Snoqualmie Valley Hospital’s new Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic, located at 9575 Ethan Wade Way S.E. The clinic, which began operations in July, held its open house Oct. 12, displaying its new 700-square-foot space and all-new therapy equipment, including a stationary bike, platform parallel bars, stairs with railings, exercise balls and therapy beds.
“I think it’s great,” said Furstnow. “I had a kind of hard couple days for walking, but it’s getting easier.”
