Farm Shed dedication this Friday

Dedication ceremonies for the Farm Shed project
will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 29, at the
Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum grounds. An open house
will follow.
The Snoqualmie Valley Historical Museum is
located at 320 North Bend Blvd. S. in North Bend.
Museum members, the general public, representatives from
various community groups and Centennial Commission members are all invited.
This special ribbon-cutting marks the completion
of some 10 years of planning, construction and
finishing of an addition to the original Farm Shed, more than
tripling its size from 576 to 1,800 square feet. The
final construction stage was undertaken as the museum’s
centennial project and it will indeed be a lasting legacy
of the 1989 centennial in our Valley.
There is now enough space for tours through the building, while large windows also allow viewing
the exhibits when the museum is closed. Artifacts include
a wagon, a sleigh, a cart, food-processing equipment,
a gas pump with glass cylinder, wood lathe,
barnyard memorabilia … the list goes on and on.
Some items, including some wonderful old signs, have been hung overhead or fastened to walls.
Others have been secured to display platforms. Identifying
labels have been put in place.
The cement floor has been treated with sealer to
allow for easier cleaning and the building has been
painted, inside and out.
A contract was let for construction. All other
work has been done by volunteers. It was a tremendous
undertaking and the results are impressive. You are
invited to attend and see for yourself!
