Fall City Park plan worries many

Snoqualmie Tribal Administrator Matt Mattson defended the Tribe’s effort to gain caretakership at Fall City Park, addressing a full house at Chief Kanim Middle School last week.

A large crowd filled the Chief Kanim Middle School gym Wednesday, May 16, coming to express concerns for the park, a Valley destination for sports and equestrian events.

King County Council-member Kathy Lambert organized the meeting to discuss the transfer of ownership of the park from the county to the Tribe, the subject of a draft agreement by King County Executive Ron Sims.

The Tribe feels it can be an appropriate steward of the park because of its ceremonial and historic connection to the Fall City site.

“This is a historically significant piece of land for the Tribe,” Mattson said.
