Fall City man dies in shooting

SEATTLE _ Police are investigating why one person was shot

and killed and three others were injured after they had gotten lost in

Seattle while on their way to a dance near Safeco Field. All four victims are

from the Fall City area.

Seattle Police Department spokesman Sean O’Donnell said police

are calling the shooting a “random” act. According to police reports, the

four victims _ two men, ages 22 and 21, and two girls, ages 14 and 15 _

had driven to Seattle to attend a dance that was being held Sunday night at

the Stadium Exhibition Center, near the baseball field.

They were reportedly traveling with the girls’ mother in a

maroon Oldsmobile Cutlass when they got lost. Police said they had stopped at

a red light at the intersection of Airport Way South and Fourth Avenue

South when someone from the car behind them ran up to the driver’s side

window and started shooting, hitting all four victims.

The 22-year-old man died Sunday at Harborview Medical Center in

Seattle after being shot in the head. The 14-year-old girl was also shot in

the head. As of earlier this week, she was listed in serious condition at the

hospital, as was the other 21-year-old man. The 15-year-old girl was said

to be in satisfactory condition. The girls’ mother was not injured.

Police are not releasing the names of the victims, and O’Donnell

said detectives continue to investigate why the shooting occurred. Seattle

police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call (206)

Minutes before the shooting, the victims and the girls’ mother

had stopped at a gas station near Airport Way South and South Dearborn

Street to ask for directions, police said.

The suspect in the shooting was described as being 20 to 21 years

old. The second car was described as white or gold, possibly with tinted windows.
