Crenshaw and Bauer lead golf tournament

SNOQUALMIE – Two of the best golfers in the game will come to Snoqualmie this weekend to raise money for charity and see if they can knock a couple of strokes off their average.

Two-time Master’s Champion Ben Crenshaw and LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) 2002 Rookie of the Year Beth Bauer will be highlighting play at the Merrill Lynch Invitational on Aug. 10 and 11 at the Tournament Players Course (TPC) at Snoqualmie Ridge.

“We just keep adding years and finding new sponsors,” said Tournament Director Dale Eldridge, who started the charity golf invitational in 1993.

This will be the third year the Jack Nicklaus-designed course in Snoqualmie will host the event. It was first held at the Indian Summer Golf and Country Club in Olympia, but moved to Snoqualmie in 2000. The event gives sponsors the chance to play with professionals and the community a chance to raise support for charities.

The two-day event starts out on Sunday, Aug. 10, with the Celebrity Shootout on the course followed by an evening auction and dinner.
