Chaplin’s may move out of North Bend

NORTH BEND – Seeking to rev up its sales, Chaplin’s North Bend Chevrolet Oldsmobile is looking to move to a different location – possibly out of the city.
The automobile dealership’s owner, Kent Chaplin, says he wants to stay in North Bend. Should it leave, riding shotgun will be several thousand dollars in sales and business-and-occupation taxes paid to the city.
The dealership has existed at its current site, 106 Main Ave. N., since 1947. But its downtown location, which once attracted customers traveling east and west through North Bend on the old Sunset Highway, is now hurting the bottom line.
