Cause unclear in fatal crash, woman dead along I-90

PRESTON _ An Issaquah woman died Monday afternoon after her

vehicle left Interstate 90 and rolled over several times before coming to rest

in the median.

Holly M. McDougal, 18, was pronounced dead shortly after

emergency crews responded to the scene, near Milepost 25 on I-90. According to

the Washington State Patrol, McDougal was not wearing a seatbelt at the

time of the accident. She was the only person in the car.

Trooper Tim Hanson said it is still unclear why McDougal’s car left

the roadway, and the accident, which occurred about 1:45 p.m. Monday,

was still being investigated.

“Basically, it was a one-car rollover. The person was ejected

from the vehicle”, and died at the scene, he said. McDougal suffered

multiple head injuries as a result of the accident.

According to a W.S.P. accident report, McDougal’s 1989 Toyota

Celica was traveling westbound on I-90. Hanson said it appeared the car,

“went off to the left in the median and came to a stop about 100 feet off the

roadway.”

Hanson said the area is not prone to accidents.

“We usually get one or two a year, during the winter when it’s icy,”

he said.
