NORTH BEND – Eastside Fire and Rescue (EFR) firefighters responded to house fire in the 200 block of Sidney Avenue at about 10 p.m. on March 11.
According to EFR spokeswoman Josie Williams, units were on the scene about five minutes after receiving the call.
The owners of the older house had several boarders, said Williams, one of whom spotted the fire in the second story while outside. That person notified the homeowner. Although the homeowner did not see a fire, 911 was called and all the occupants of the residence were evacuated.
When firefighters from EFR – including two North Bend crews from King County Fire District 38 – arrived on the scene, they found one of the occupants of the home trying to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.
The fire caused about $15,000 in damage, but no injuries were reported, said Williams.
EFR crews contacted the Red Cross because the seven people at the residence were displaced.
