“I feel like I just gave birth,” exclaimed Dan Saimo as he made the final preparations for the opening of the Fischer Creek Bike Park Saturday, July 14. Eighty youths brought their parents, siblings, bicycles and helmets to try the newest addition to Snoqualmie recreational opportunities – a mountain bike skills park next to the rock climbing wall at Fischer Creek Park on Snoqualmie Ridge.
The park was constructed of donated dirt hand-carved into a series of jumps, table tops and berms, augmented with cedar “structures” such as teeter-totters, “skinnies” and low-elevation ramps. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 14, the bike park saw immediate use by kids, parents, grandparents and Snoqualmie Mayor Matt Larson, who navigated the various obstacles with finesse.
