Auburn man jailed for 76 heist, crash

An Auburn man is currently on probation after first trying to rob the Snoqualmie 76 gas station and then ramming his pickup into the business last fall.

Jose M. Santana-Virgen, 21, pled guilty to one count of assault in the second degree and one count of theft in the third degree, on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in King County Superior Court.

He was sentenced Feb. 2 to 90 days in jail, with credit for 77 days served since the November 2006 robbery, and has been released from King County Jail.

According to court documents, Santana-Virgen stated that he intentionally tried to assault the store clerk and two customers in the station with the truck.

The Snoqualmie 76 station was closed for five days following the ramming. Repairs cost $80,000, and the final painting on the repaired wall was finished just a few weeks ago.
