Mount Si took no prisoners last week as they thoroughly demolished league rival Liberty 64-12.
The Wildcats recorded eight pins, one technical fall, two major decisions and a decision to Liberty’s two pins.
The night started at 112 pounds with the Wildcats’ Kyle Heath pinning Matt Weik with 1:12 left in the first round. “Kyle did well. He got us started,” said coach Jeff Newcomer.
“It was exactly what we thought was going to happen. I was looking for any way to win,” said Heath. “I knew I would get the takedown and get him quick,” he said. He was also quick to praise his team, and especially Dan Wright. “Dan did a great job tonight. He was up, then down then came out winning.”
Teammate Ryan Makala followed suit at 119 pounds and pinned the Patriots’ Franklyn Reynolds with only 12 seconds left in the first round. Not to be outdone, Joe Taklo pinned Liberty’s Wright Noel with only 20 seconds in the first round. Three matches, three pins and Mount Si was ahead 18-0.
Liberty saved face slightly as the Wildcats’ Joseph Guiard, at 130 pounds, was pinned by Liberty’s Luke Hansen with 37 seconds left in the second round.
