Agreement nears for North Bend water

North Bend is nearing an agreement with Seattle to purchase water that will allow the city to end its moratorium on building due to lack of water.
North Bend City Council members reviewed a draft contract March 27. If approved, the contract would create a 60-year agreement between the two cities that would allow North Bend to purchase untreated water that would be piped from Hobo Springs in the Cedar River Watershed to replace water taken from the Snoqualmie River.
Ron Garrow, city public works director, said that North Bend now gets its water from a spring at the base of Mount Si. Water for new construction would come from a well at the public works shop. That well is hydrologically connected to the South Fork and Middle Fork Snoqualmie rivers – as water is pumped from the wells, the water level of the rivers drop
