Because the 2004 Precinct Caucus is being held on a Saturday, and because some religious organizations conduct their activities on Saturdays, the Washington State Democrats have arranged for the use of a “Caucus Affidavit for Religious Observance.” Those wishing to use this affidavit must apply in writing, or in person, at the Washington State Democrats, 616 First Ave. No. 300, or P.O. Box 4027, Seattle, WA 98104. The affidavit must be requested no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30. It must be completed, signed and delivered to the District Chair Tom Vance (see below) no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6. Only the original form is acceptable (no facsimiles), and no proxies are acceptable for any other reason than religious observance.
The affidavit will permit those attending to vote for their presidential choice and for a second choice if the first choice does not make the 15 percent minimum. They may also indicate their interest in being selected as a delegate for the Legislative District Caucus. For information, call Paul Berendt at the Washington State Democrats at (206) 583-0664.
Completed affidavits should be sent to District Chair Tom Vance, 22406 N.E. 25th Way, Sammamish, WA 98074 by the deadline: Feb. 6, 5 p.m. Call at (425) 836-8700.
