SNOQUALMIE – A project to decrease flooding in Snoqualmie has received the green light from the Metropolitan King County Council, bringing to a close several years’ worth of effort to get it approved.

The council ratified the Snoqualmie River Flood Reduction Project, also known as the 205 project, at its Monday, July 29, meeting.

“I think that it is absolutely marvelous that it passed,” said Snoqualmie Mayor Fuzzy Fletcher. “It was the No. 1 priority for me, to get as many residents as possible out of the floodwater.”

The project, which is a joint effort between the city of Snoqualmie, King County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, encompasses removing part of the banks of the Snoqualmie River near the Falls and demolishing an old bridge.
