Ten Wildcat wrestlers won their matches as Mount Si beat Interlake, 46-19. The highlight of the meet for Mount Si was in the 112-pound weight division, where the Wildcats’ Cody Botten made very short work of his opponent, Interlake’s Marcus Kopp. Botten pinned Kopp in just 13 seconds.

Andrew Sypher (119) pinned the Saints’ Ryuji Kawashima to win that match, and Shelby Williams (171) and Tony Hana (215) also took their contests by pinning their Interlake opponents. Ben Larson (130), Cody Hookstand (135), Ryan Makela (140), Shane Dixon (152) and Lee Amador (160) all had their matches go the distance, but all of these wrestlers won their matches by decision, with Makela’s being a 13-2 majority decision over Jacob Marks of the Saints. Amador also dominated his match, but the remainder of this group won by fairly close margins.

Ryan Ransavage (285) had the night off, as he was awarded his match by forfeit, but Mount Si likewise forfeited a match, this at the 103 class, to the Saints.

Interlake took three matches, at the 125, 145, and 189-pound divisions. In the 125, the Saints’ Joshua Okrent dominated Mount Si’s Aaron Peterson in an 11-0 majority decision; in the 145, Interlake’s Christian Schultz pinned the Wildcats’ Dylan Cochran. The 189 saw a game effort from the Wildcats’ Zach Storm, but it was his Saints’ opponent, Andy Agas, who took the 4-2 decision.

Mount Si travels to Newport High School in Bellevue this Thursday night, Dec. 18, to meet Sammamish’s Eastlake High School on a neutral mat. Meet time is 7:30 p.m. This will be their last meet until after the holidays, when they will go back to Newport and take on the Knights on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
