The Mount Si wrestling team moved one step closer to a league championship this past week by defeating Sammamish, 66-9. The meet started with the 130-pound class where the Wildcats’ Dallas Liebe won by forfeit. At 135 pounds, Jordan Sypher lost to the Totems’ Dean Bradshaw by decision, 2-5. At 140 pounds, Jay Dochnahl pulled out a close 8-7 decision over the Totems’ Casey Akana. Akana led until the third round when Dochnahl pulled out two takedowns for the win.

At 145 pounds, Zach Dochnahl lost by major decision to the Totems’ Sal Mata 10-0, but it would be the last points of the night scored by the Totems. Mac Donnell pinned the Totems’ Ryan Schademal at 152 pounds at the 3:42 mark of the second round. Kenny Morrison won by forfeit for Mount Si at 160 pounds and teammate Pano Dreves won a 4-2 decision over Josh Abergel at 171 pounds.

At 189 pounds, the Wildcats’ Jack Stinnett won by pin at the 3:35 mark of the second round. Hunter Woldseth won by forfeit for Mount Si at 215 pounds and Dex Moetulvi won by pin over the Totems Dmitiri Poldosky at 275 pounds at the 56-second mark of the first round.

At 103 pounds, Kyle Heath won by forfeit. Jacob Lund made short work of the Totems’ Josh Merritt at 112 pounds, pinning him at the 1:27 mark of the first round. At 119 pounds, Joe Taklo won by forfeit as did Mike Montgomery at 125 pounds.
