Mount Si’s baseball team fell last Monday at Bannerwood Park against the Bellevue Wolverines. Bellevue took a 5-2 lead after five and never looked back, winning the contest 8-3. Erik Alexander went 2-for-2 and picked up a run batted in. Ryan Utesch added the two other RBIs for Mount Si. Dan Reeves, who was a courtesy runner for catcher Blake Hepner, scored two of the runs.

The first Reeves’ run came in the third inning. He scored on a single by Alexander for the lone Wildcat run of the frame, but Bellevue responded with three of their own off of Mount Si pitcher Chase Korsmo in the bottom of the inning. Reeves scored again in the fifth on a single by Ryan Utesch. The Wolverines scored twice more in the bottom of the inning.

The Wildcats scored one more run in the seventh, but by then it was too late.

Last Wednesday, Mount Si got revenge for their early season loss at home against Sammamish. The Wildcat bats came alive on the Totems’ field in the 10-2 rout. Alexander pitched into the seventh inning, striking out two. He did not give up an earned run in the contest. The senior is now 2-1 in Kingco with a 2.78 earned run average.

The bats came alive again in the second inning scoring four runs. Corey Lindberg started things off with a double, which scored Korsmo from first base. Lindberg then scored on a Remo Castagno single. Two more runs came across in the inning.

Utesch’s single in the sixth with two men on scored Ian Atkinson and that set off another four-run Mount Si outburst. Thomas Taylor’s pinch-hit single with the bases loaded scored Putsch and Keegan Riley, and the rout was on.

Atkinson went 3-for-3 in the game with a double and scored three times. Castagno went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Hepner went 2-for-4 with a run batted in.
