The Mount Si Wildcats’ volleyball team played well in front of their home fans as they qualified for the Sea-King district tournament at the Kingco Tournament last Friday and Saturday at Mount Si High School.

Friday, Oct. 26, the Wildcats opened tournament play with a game against the surprise team of the season, the Interlake Saints. After a slow start, Mount Si got to work and clinched their district berth in a three-game sweep. Scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 25-22.

Game one started out with the Saints holding an early advantage, getting their lead at one point up to 10-5 before the Wildcats took over. Strong efforts from Miranda Pratt, Alisha Larion and Danielle Rehm were key as Mount Si took care of business. A Rehm kill on the third game point with Interlake on serve closed out the frame. The second game started out tight, but when Rachel Brun came up to serve for the Wildcats with her team leading 13-12, she took matters into her own hands and helped Mount Si seize control with a 6-0 run.
