Wildcat girls’ soccer off to slow start

It was a strange night for the Mount Si Wildcat girls’ soccer team last Tuesday as they opened their home schedule against the Liberty Patriots. It was somewhat of a decent night for the ladies on the pitch, but too many bad breaks and inconsistent play doomed them in the end as they ended in a tie with Liberty.

Mariana Zanella scored the only Mount Si goal, but a defensive breakdown late in the second half enabled Liberty to tie the game. Zanella had a great shot in overtime to potentially win it, but she got hurt attempting the shot and it went for naught as the two teams ended in a 1-1 tie.

“I think one of the issues that we’re having is we haven’t got to where we need to be yet,” said Mount Si coach Darren Brown, adding, “We’re doing things, even against MI, even that win, that we need to take care of.” Brown held a long post game chat with the team and improvement is in store for this group of ladies.
