A former Mount Si High School football star has earned a big honor.

Kyle Meuli, a recently graduated senior who starred as both a wide receiver and cornerback for the Wildcats, was named to one of the teams that will compete in the All-State football game for senior high school players July 1 at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Meuli was surprised at being named. “My initial reaction was, ‘Wow,'” he said.

Meuli will play as a cornerback in the contest and is likely to make an impact there. He finished in a tie for third place in league with three interceptions last season. However, his impact was greater on special teams, so look for him to potentially make his presence felt there too in this game. He was second overall in Kingco 3A in kickoff returns, averaging 34 yards a return, with one touchdown.

Meuli also excelled as a wide receiver in 2005, helping lead the Wildcats. The former star caught 20 passes, averaging 13.6 yards a catch, with six touchdowns. Mount Si finished 7-3 on the season.

Wildcat coach Charlie Kinnune said he believes Meuli deserves this honor. “Kyle had a tremendous impact on our program the last three seasons. He was a ‘big play’ player for us. Always the ability to break the big one,” Kinnune said.

The coach added, “Kyle was a performer in the purest form. He has continually proven that in both football and basketball. He was able to rise to the occasion.”

Meuli also starred on the Mount Si boys’ basketball squad last season which finished sixth at state.
