Wildcat girls tennis

feeling growing pains

The Mount Si High School girls tennis team made a strong effort in their match against Interlake, but it was the Saints who came out on top, winning seven of nine matches.

The Wildcat winners were Linnea Olson in singles, who defeated Chelsea Bucklin of Interlake in straight sets 6-3, 6-3; and Kelsey Wise and Mariana Zanella in doubles, who took care of the Saints’ top doubles pair of Audrey Motto and Dorine Rassaian in straights as well, 6-4, 6-4. Wise had a solid singles effort against Motto, but fell 4-6, 4-6 in that contest to the Interlake player.

“Kelsey Wise had a really good match yesterday,” Wildcat coach Sue Gallacher told the Valley Record.

Interlake’s number-one Audrey Motto “is a very good player who did very well at the state tournament last year,” Gallacher said. “Kelsey stayed with her in singles in both sets, and she and Mariana had a great win in doubles.”

Zanella also had a good start in her singles contest against the Saints’ Alysha Dhnmi, but the Wildcat senior ran out of gas late and fell 4-6, 1-6. Victoria Falcon in singles and the doubles team of Georgia Reynolds and Vivian Yang also started out strong in their respective matches, but they, too, ran out of steam down the stretch and lost.

Match results for a scheduled match last Friday, March 28, against Skyline were not available by press time.

The Wildcats played Liberty on Wednesday, March 19, and while that contest was rained out before it could be completed, there were good efforts shown by Olson, Falcon and Kelcy Simpson in their matches with their Patriot opponents. More information on this match will be available in future issues of the Valley Record when the teams are able to complete the contest.
