A look at Mount Si sports for the week.

‘C’ football team destroys Red Wolves

The Mount Si “C” football team defeated the Cedarcrest Red Wolves last week 34-8. Brandon Smith connected with Alex Heibert for two touchdowns; Stu Halleck also added to the scoring by returning a kick 80 yards. Backup running back K.C. Bailey had a great touchdown run to add to the scoring. Great blocking by Ryan Frazier, helped score the TD.


Three Wildcats make top 10

In the first league meet of the season, three Mount Si runners placed in the top 10 among Kingco schools. The jamboree meet was held at Lake Sammamish State Park.

For the 10th-grade boys, Drake daPonte finished seventh with a time of 10:56. The winning time was 10:19 by John O’Meara of Mercer Island.

For the 10th-grade girls, Katie Hogan took sixth with a time of 13:47. The winning time was 13:16 by Lindsey Brooks of Newport.

Finally, for the 12th-grade boys, Thomas Goble took eighth with a time of 10:57. The winning time was 10:08 by Colin Smith of Liberty.

‘Cats fall to Interlake

In a pre-season match between the Interlake Saints and the Mount Si Wildcats last week, the Saints came out on top, 7-2.

In doubles play, Blake Kinghorn and Bryce Louviere defeated their opponents 2-6, 6-4 and 11-9. Kendall Brenneise and Tim Coleman defeated their opponents 6-2 and 7-6.


JV defeats Interlake

The Mount Si boys JV tennis team defeated Interlake last week in a preseason match 10-4.

Singles winners were Kevin Sandin, Derek Aldrich and Ryan Schwab. Doubles winners were Bruno Shilot/Nick Schwarzmiller, Isaac Farrar/Jesse Ransavage, Scott Paophaviahanh/Ryan Schwab, Stephan Salmon. Matt Currier, Jeff Sullivan/Stephen Eytel, Aldrich/Joshua Williams and the team of Adam Dalman/Sandin.


‘Cats defeat Issaquah

The Mount Si boys golf team improved its non-league record to 3-1 last week with an impressive 5 over par 185 win over Issaquah, who shot a 186.

Jon Larson and Kevin Englund lead the way with even par 36. Tanner Ostby shot a 37 and both Mike Rutledge and Travis Dalke fired a 38.


Golfers defeat Patriots

The Wildcat boys golf team opened league play last week with a win over Liberty. Freshman Mike Rutledge led the way with a 38 followed by Travis Dalke and Tanner Ostby who both shot a 39. Jon Larson had a 41 and Kevin Englund a 42.
