JV wins three

The Mount Si boys’ JV tennis team won three doubles matches at Sammamish last week. The teams of Kyle Cantalini/Zac Pearlstein, Matt Lynne/DevinAberle and Dylan Hughes/Adam Ransavage all won their matches.


JV tennis team notches more wins

Three doubles teams won their matches last week against Issaquah.

The teams of Matt Lynne/Devin Aberle, Ben Olson/Nick Love and Jeff Sullivan/Cody Lane won.


Boys’ golf ends regular season with victory

The Mount Si boys’ golf team closed out their regular season with a match victory last Monday, Oct. 9, over Newport at the Golf Club of Newcastle. Bradley Harrelson and Jon Larson each shot 1-under-par 35s to take dual medalist honors for the Wildcats, who took the match 188-196. Mike Rutledge shot a 38, Matt Prewett fired a 39 and Tanner Ostby shot a 41 to pace the Mount Si efforts.

Several other players competed for the Wildcats: Tyler Ostby, who shot 40; Luke Dietsch, who fired a 43; Bryce Karalus, who took home a round of 46; Sam Joselyn, who carded a 47, and Jeff Hoyopatubbi, who rounded out the Mount Si effort with a 48.

The Wildcats this week played in the Kingco Tournament in Snohomish. Look for Larson and Harrelson to lead the way for Mount Si in this event.


Cross country wraps up regular season

The Wildcat cross country team traveled to Mercer Island last week for their final dual meet of the season. The Islanders dominated as a team but several Wildcat runners posted excellent times. Drake da Ponte busted out running his best race of teh season on the 3.1-mile very hilly course. He recored a time of 16 minutes, 42 seconds, good enough for second place. The biggest surprise for the boys, came from freshman Trey Botten with a time of 18:24, almost two minutes faster than when he ran the same course at the beginning of the season. Other top finishers for the boys were Max McDevitt, Owen Strom, Brett Duncan, Ben Joselyn and Kyle Clark.

Alex Rudd and Katie Hogan placed in the top five with times of 19:38 and 20:13, respectively. Megan Past and Alix Crandell both dropped almost two minutes from their time from the same course at the beginning of the season. Other top finishers for the girls were Chelsea Heinz, Wendy Hecker and Brooke Moorhead.
