Three Mount Si wrestlers made it to the state tournament last Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome. Mat Classic XX was a spectacular event as always with 24 mats of simultaneous wrestling and crowds of people cheering on their favorite wrestler.

Two of the Wildcat state participants came home with honors. Jacob Lund, at 145 pounds, came home with a seventh-place finish and teammate Ryan Ransavage, wrestling at 285 pounds, brought home a sixth-place finish.

Lund won his first match of the meet, defeating Patrick Russell of Southridge 6-3.

“I was just keeping my head and not getting over- excited,” said Lund after the match.

“I was a little nervous at the end when he had a chance to throw me,” he added after his first-ever state appearance at the Mat Classic.
