The Mount Si Wildcats played two nonleague games on the road against Kingco 4A opponents to open the season last week. Here’s how they did:

Mount Si 1, Juanita 1

The Wildcats opened the season on Sept. 6 with a tie at Juanita High School in Kirkland. Whitney Chelgren scored the lone Mount Si goal to force the tie. Kristen Berndt added the assist on that goal.

Mount Si 6, Lake Washington 0

On Sept. 11, Mount Si traveled to Kirkland again, this time to Lake Washington High School where they spanked the Kangaroos early and often. Berndt scored four goals, while newcomers Krisi Lund and Kirsten Mills added the other goals to lead Mount Si, who was up 4-0 at the half. Whitney Chelgren added three assists, and goalkeeper Caitlin Braun picked up the shutout and herself added an assist to the effort.

Mount Si is 1-0-1 heading in to Kingco 3A Conference play, which opens this week with a road game Thursday at Sammamish High School against the Totems (field conditions permitting). They open their home schedule Sept. 25 with a divisional clash against the Liberty Patriots.
