Boeing Classic returns to Snoqualmie

78 golfers will compete in the 54-hole tournament for a $2.2 millon purse in August.

The 19th annual Boeing Classic tees off tournament week at the Club at Snoqualmie Ridge on Aug. 6.

One of 28 PGA Tour Champion events worldwide and the only annual tour event in the Pacific Northwest, the Boeing Classic will feature 78 male golfers over 50 competing in a 54-hole tournament for a $2.2 million purse.

The Boeing Classic announced on July 23 that last year’s champion, Stephen Ames, will return to defend his title at this year’s classic, competing against several former champions, including Miguel Angel Jimenez and World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer, according to its website.

“We are proud to confirm that defending champion Stephen Ames will compete in the 2024 Boeing Classic,” said Tournament Director Ryan Ingalls. “Stephen has been playing some of the best golf on PGA Tour Champions, and we welcome his title defense.”

The Aug. 6-11 event, founded in 2005, serves as a fundraiser to recognize the researchers and patients who have benefited from medical advancements made at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s Benaroya Research Institute (BRI).

“As a founding partner of the Boeing Classic, alongside the Seattle Seahawks and Boeing, we are excited to bring the community and our partners together at the tournament again this year,” said Ketul J. Patel, CEO of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in a press release. “The proceeds from this event support the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in advancing cutting-edge research to predict, prevent, reverse and cure diseases that affect the immune system, such as type 1 diabetes, lupus, multiple sclerosis, and cancer. BRI is instrumental in advancing scientific breakthroughs that improve health and save lives, not just here in the Northwest, but around the world.”

According to organizers, the Boeing Classic has raised over $9 million for BRI in the last 19 years.

Spectators can purchase tickets on boeingclassic.com starting at $20. Upgraded tickets are available for those hoping to watch the tournament play from vantage points. Admission for children 14 and under is free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder.

The week-long classic kicks off on Aug. 6 with a youth clinic. Children ages 6-18 are invited to learn from professional golfers and receive a prize pack. The noon event is open to the public and sponsored by First Tee of Greater Seattle.

A new interactive football zone called the Seahawks Village is opening this year. It will feature Seahawks players signing autographs, a DJ booth, a silent disco and a lounge.

Military Appreciation Day, Aug. 11, will include free admission and parking for active, retired, and reserve military personnel. Military personnel will make the first tee announcements.
