Girls basketball tournaments set

The Youth Coaches Series will be holding the first of its

tournaments Nov. 5-7 at Juanita High School for girls’ teams in grades five, six,

seven, eight, JV and varsity high school, and select JV and varsity teams. The

entry fee is $150 per team and the deadline to enter is Oct. 29.

1999 fall/winter series can call the same number.

Basketball coordinator sought

Snoqualmie Valley Youth HUB is now in the process of recruiting a

basketball coordinator to assist in the upcoming HUB Basketball season.

The position is part-time, 20 to 30 hours a week from October

through April, and pays $12 an hour. The position requires weekend hours and

the ability to work off-site/at home and attend evening meetings.

Up-and-coming runner

has great October

North Bend resident Drake daPonte placed first in the 9-10

boys division of the South Hill Striders Cross Country Invitational Meet

on Saturday, Oct. 2, in Puyallup. Running for the Issaquah Gliders, daPonte

covered the 2400-meter course in 9:03.

On the following day, daPonte won the 11 and under division of

the Issaquah Salmon Days 5-K Run with a time of 20:08.

Drake is a fourth-grade student at Snoqualmie Elementary School.
