Hub basketball time
Snoqualmie Valley Youth Hub is accepting coaching applications and planning tryouts for its 2005-2006 Wildcat Travel Basketball season. Those interested in coaching one of the travel teams are asked to contact/submit an application or letter of interest to: Snoqualmie Valley Youth HUB, attention Warren Sheldon, P.O. Box 1865, Snoqualmie, WA 98065. Travel league tryouts are for all players (fifth through eighth-grade boys and girls) living within the Snoqualmie Valley School District. This includes Puget Sound (fifth- through eighth-grade girls), Foothills/AAU (fifth-grade boys), Cascade (sixth through eighth-grade boys), and Eastside Travel (sixth through eighth-grade boys).
Tryouts will take place at the following locations: Saturday, Sept. 24 (1-6 p.m.) and Sunday, Sept. 25 (1-6 p.m.), at Mount Si High School (MSHS) and Monday, Sept. 26 (5-9 p.m.), Wednesday, Sept. 28 (5-9 p.m.), at Snoqualmie Middle School (SMS).
Players should attend all four tryout dates for their specific grade level with the following times. Fifth-grade boys and girls, Saturday and Sunday, 2-3 p.m. (MSHS), Monday and Wednesday, 5-6 p.m. (SMS). Sixth-grade boys and girls, Saturday and Sunday, 3-4 p.m. (MSHS), Monday and Wednesday, 6-7 p.m. (SMS). Seventh-grade boys and girls, Saturday and Sunday, 4-5 p.m. (MSHS), Monday and Wednesday, 7-8 p.m. (SMS). Eighth-grade boys and girls, Saturday and Sunday, 5 – 6 p.m. (MSHS), Monday and Wednesday, 8-9 p.m. (SMS).
There is a $10 tryout fee (nonrefundable), which is applied toward the season registration fee if / when a player makes a team.

Lutes fall to Linfield in Conference opener
Defending Northwest Conference champion Pacific Lutheran University squared off against a red-hot Linfield team in Northwest Conference volleyball action last week with the Linfield Wildcats walking away with a 30-26, 30-20, 30-24 victory.
Former Mount Si standout Stephanie Turner had 19 kills for the Lutes.
Two former Wildcats see playing time
Alex Smart, a 2003 graduate of Mount Si, and Brett Bergstrom, a 2001 graduate of Mount Si, both saw playing time in last week’s Eastern Washington University football team’s game against Eastern Oregon.
Smart, playing the role of backup quarterback, threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Richmond Sanders in the fourth quarter. Bergstrom had punting duties for the game for a total of 108 yards with a three-kick average of 36 yards.
