Golfer gets hole in one

A golfer bagged a rare hole in one recently at the Snoqualmie Ridge TPC.

Jim Sansburn had the lucky shot, hitting the 13th hole from 185 yards with a 6-iron on Sunday, July 13. Hole in ones are something of a rarity in the Tournament Player’s Course, pro shop staff said.

The TPC will host some of the best players in the country in the Boeing Classic, slated for Aug. 18 to 24.

Rotary golf tourney is Friday

A round of golf can make a world of difference in the Valley, thanks to the Rotary Club.

The 15th annual Snoqualmie Valley Rotary Golf Tournament is Friday, July 25 at Mount Si Golf Course in North Bend.

The tournament raises money for local organizations and projects, and follows a four-player scramble format.

Registration and breakfast begin at 7 a.m., with the shotgun start at 8 a.m.

A fee of $125 per golfer includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of play, cart rental, lunch, awards and prizes.

A new car will be awarded to the player who sinks the first hole in one on hole 11, courtesy of Chaplin’s North Bend Chevrolet.

Prizes will be awarded to the player who gets closest to the pin and hits the longest drive, as well as the top team scores. Five randomly drawn players will have a chance to win a “$100 for 100 yards” hit at the 18th hole during lunch.

Where there are needs in the Valley, the Rotary often offers support. The tournament, Rotary’s main fund-raiser for the year, has helped fund scholarships at Mount Si High School, recognize outstanding Mount Si and Two Rivers students with $100 savings bonds, helped the Mount Si Senior Center and Helping Hand Food Bank, and financed a new playground at Encompass.
