Mount Si Relay and Ultra Run slated for April
The Eastside Runners, a running club based out of Redmond,
announces its 17th annual Footzone Mount Si Relay and Ultra Run to
be held on Sunday, April 9.
The race begins and ends at Mount Si High. Teams of five runners,
or pairs of two, run 52.8 miles. Ultra’s will run solo for 50 miles. The
scenic run encompasses trails, towns, abandoned tracks and the Cascade

TPC announces golf membership director
The Tournament Players Course (TPC) at Snoqualmie Ridge
announces the hire of John Garcia as the golf club’s director of membership
and marketing. Garcia comes to TPC Snoqualmie Ridge with nearly
20 years of sports marketing experience, half of which are concentrated in golf.
In his new role at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, Garcia will be responsible
for marketing and recruiting efforts, as well as acting as a point person
for current club members. Garcia will also be charged with ensuring the club
continues to provide its current and potential members with an unrivaled
private club experience.
“John’s familiarity and experience with the golf market in this area,
combined with his innate skill and love for the game will certainly be a
valuable addition to the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge team,” said Jeff Ducharme,
general manager of the club.
Prior to joining the TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, Garcia was
membership sales and marketing director for The Golf Club of Oklahoma
in Tulsa, Okla., and Bear Creek Country Club in Woodinville.
HUB and SVTC to hold track meets
Running, jumping and throwing are the purest forms of sport.
Children and adults enjoy a sense of physical well being and accomplishment
after friendly competition on a spring day.
The Snoqualmie Valley Track Club (SVTC) is once again offering
the “Allcomers” meets on five Sundays, starting in late April. The meets
will be held at either Chief Kanim Middle School or Mount Si High School
from 2 to 4 p.m.
Last year many of the eight to 14-year-old children became so
excited about track and field from the Allcomer Meets that they joined
the Junior Wildcat Track Club and competed with other youth in the
region. Some of the athletes even made it to the state level! It was a joy to see
them so proud of their accomplishments.
The groups of volunteers who run the program would like to see the
participation in the free meets grow this year. If you attended last year,
please come again and bring another family with you. There are family events,
as well as many races and field events for children starting at age three.
Even if you don’t wish to compete, it’s a real treat to see the faces of those
children as they try their hardest to race down that track and earn the blue ribbon.
The members of the SVTC are very excited to be in their second
year of operation and hope that many from the Valley will join them again.
They promise lots of exercise, ribbons and fun to share.
