Wildcats upend Liberty,

fall to Skyline

The Mount Si Wildcats have started putting together a pretty

good string of victories, with the Patriots of Liberty stepping up as last week’s

first victim.

Mount Si won the Wednesday night contest by scores of 15-10,

15-6 and 15-11. Individual performances included Stephanie Sales with 4

kills, 9 aces, 4 blocks and 3 digs; Genevieve Weber, 2 aces and 13 digs;

Kristen Everett, 18 assists; Heather Lewis, 11 kills and 11 digs; and Betsy

Bankson with 3 kills and 2 aces.

Monday evening, Oct. 18, the court `Cats hosted the 6-4

Skyline squad. The Spartans came away with the victory following a marathon

five-game series, prevailing by scores of 12-15, 151-12, 7-15, 15-8 and 16-14.

Mount Si’s Lewis recorded 19 kills and 29 digs; Bankson, 14 kills, 4

aces and 11 digs; Everett, 3 kills, 3 aces, 4 blocks, 8 digs and 37 assists; Sales,

6 kills, 2 aces, 7 digs, 2 blocks; Weber, 5 aces and 9 digs; Sheneil Harstad,

11 digs; Tiffany Durmond, 2 kills, 1 ace and 2 digs; and Kristen Roberts,

2 digs.

Armed with a 6-4 record, the Wildcats hosted Interlake

Wednesday night. Their last game of the season is next Monday, when they travel

down Valley for a clash with the Cedarcrest squad.

Red Wolves

break even for week

Two weeks ago the Cedarcrest volleyball team was 5-2; now

they’re 5-5 and scrambling for something better than third place in the Valley

Division of KingCo 3A.

After dropping consecutive contests with Newport and

Interlake, Wednesday night the Wolves hoped to rebound against Sky

Division-leader Mercer Island. It wasn’t to be, as

the Islanders pounded out a three-game victory by scores of 15-7, 15-3 and

15-7. Point totals for the Red Wolves included Julie Henry, 10 assists, 2

kills, 6 digs and 1 ace; Katie Powers, 2 kills, 7 digs, 1 ace and 1 block;

Erin Townsend, 5 kills; and Kara Lawson with 3 kills and 1 block.

This past Monday the Cedarcrest volleyball squad traveled

to Sammamish to take on the 0-10 Totems. The Wolves’ took the contest

in three straight matches, 15-9, 15-4 and 15-3.

Team totals included Power, 10 kills, 13 digs and 1 ace; Henry, 12

assists, 4 kills, 4 digs and 1 ace; Townsend, 13 kills;

Andrea Wickstrom, 19 assists, 1 kills, 2 digs and 2 aces; and Rachael Barksdale,

2 kills and 6 digs.

The 6-5 Wolves hosted 2-9 Liberty on Wednesday, Oct. 20. Their

final game for the season is Monday, Oct. 26, when they welcome Valley

rival Mount Si.
